Blog Vacation

I haven't felt much like posting updates lately?
My running has been going fairly well after the marathon. I ran a 5K the Friday after the pig, and what a disaster. My legs felt like mush and I was about 30 seconds per mile slower than the last PR.
Now for the good news...the pictures below are from Asheville, NC - I ran the Biltmore 15K at the Biltmore Estate this morning, and ran my fastest race ever for a distance over five miles. The official time was 1:13:30 - that calculates to a 7:54 mile!!! I was so excited...the grounds were beautiful and this was my first sub 8-minute pace other than a 5K.
The picture at the left was from the Expo at the Flying Pig Marathon. They had all these pigs decorated for the race - hysterical. I am still in the afterglow from the race and find myself dreaming about it at least once a week. I am looking forward to running another, but can't decide where or when? I'm taking recommendations...just leave me a comment below.
On the school front...I started summer semester last week. I'm only taking one class - Information Systems Management, so I'm hoping it is manageable. I am really looking forward to getting back on campus next month. After my finals last semester I am kinda pumped. I ended up getting a perfect score on my strategy course and a 97 on my health policy final. Not bad, I felt pretty good when I submitted them, but an ace was beyond my expectation.
Dad and I are heading to Michigan for our annual Poplin Fishing Trip, so look for pictures next week sometime.

Glad to read a post from you, I was just about to send off an email pestering you for an update. So, here is my 2 cents worth regarding marathons. Keep in mind, I am NOT a runner, I hate running, but I think it is so cool that you completed the PIG. I have quite a few friends who are marathoners and here are some they have run.

Chicago - a lot of people say this is a good one to run. Pretty flat course I believe.
The Disney Marathon - you get a pretty cool medal at the end :).
Cleveland - our neighbor just ran this one yesterday. I'll ask her about it.
NEW YORK CITY - a must! I have watched this one many times while living in the big city.
Boston - very hilly and one to probably build up to.
Pikes Peak - if you have totally lost your mind then go run up a mountain and then back down again. I swear, I went with a friend who did this once and you have to be off your rocker to do this one. For Toni, it's a nice trip and the view from the top of the mountain is amazing. If you decided to just do the 1/2 crazy route of just up the mountain, give Toni this piece of advice - take the train back down the mountain, don't take the van back down with the runners!

Brian, Good job on the Flying Pig! It's been a while since I have heard from you. On a recent trip home I heard some gossip from the Latham ladies about your blog and had to check it out. It's nice to be able to see what you've been up to. I'm glad to see you are enjoying all of the running not to mention excelling at it. Keep up the good work.
